Has anyone considered Octopus Energy’s Tracker tariff and can share experiences?
It tracks the wholesale market and is currently cheaper than other alternatives I can see.
I’m currently on octopus agile which has been cheap simkar to tracker, but unit rate changes every half an hour. Sometimes you get times where you are paid to use electric. I’ve been with them 3 months and save £165 compared to flexible tarriff.
However, tracker and agile are a gamble because it can spike upto £1 a kw if the wholesale price goes up which it could do if we have a cold winter without wind or much sun. Agile depends not using much electric between 4 pm and 7 pm. And load shifting.
Don't miss: Can anybody tell me why Octopus seem intent on increasing my DD?

it's been great for me since I signed up in February. Octopus claim it's a riskier option in the Winter as prices can fluctuate more. And being a tracker, it's riskier in general vs a fixed tariff.
But at the moment it looks like daily prices are about 1/3 cheaper than the current price cap. has certainly saved me a lot this year so far vs being on the price cap tariff.
