Something definitely wrong with Octopus allowing withdrawal of credit balances

First, I couldn't withdraw part of my credit until monthly bill was generated and statement processed which in fairness I understand.

Now they say I cannot get a partial withdrawal until my direct debit is processed.

So basically, they are saying I cannot have even some of my money until I give them more money?

Makes me appreciate my (more expensive, but accurate) solution! No contract; take readings each month. Pay what I owe!

I’ll stick with my method for the foreseeable, thank you!

I pay as and when I get the bill. Not having them with the interest, its mine and it stays mine.

I am with Octopus no issues. I have high credit and out of Interest I looked they offered to repay £600 £800 credit which as the reduced dd to £33 pm as ridiculous as will spend that £800 by January.

Yes, us idiots who pay to covering our budget from Oct to Mar and do not get into debit.

Yes, we are idiots as others abuse the system and get helped but I was bought up get a roof over your head, heating for your home and food on your plate only buy anything ele if you can afford it.

Also, check out: If you're on Octopus, just check your direct debit

I'm just amazed at all the posts here that want to give these energy giants an interest free loan.

They wouldn't give me mine either. Had to jump through hoops so I cancelled my direct debit and when they phoned to ask me to set it back up I said I will once the balance has come right down.

They don't play the rules so neither do I.

Don't forget to take a look at: Octopus will be increasing their rates…?

SP tried that, I had £800 in credit, and they wouldn't give me £300 back (because we were going into winter) so I cancelled the account and got it all back  now with Octopus.

I have had no problem. I had a rebate last year. They wanted to put my d/d up from £84 to £167. I said no.

Willing to up to £100 and they accepted and agreed. Service and communication is excellent.

Just gone onto their new fixed tariff. I rate Octopus after 3 other large fuel suppliers.

I'm with Octopus and never had an issue, took £500 out not long ago, they just wanted to up my DD but I dropped it back to my original amount no problem at all.

We've been trying since the beginning of July. So much BS from them. We've over 1k sat with them.

I’ve just had a partial refund on my account and yes I suppose they have waited for my direct debit to go through so my account is all up to date. I didn’t think too much about it thou. I worked out prior to requesting some back what my bill would look like, including my DD and how it would it would look after the refund. It wasn’t an issue though.

Octopus are also good in that they suggested how much refund I could request. We are £950 in credit and octopus suggested anything up to £630 for a refund.

As long as they have accurate meter readings, all should be fine x

You can check also: Can anybody tell me why Octopus seem intent on increasing my DD?

I'm having huge trouble getting refund, despite supplying readings, as suggested, and now formally asking them to do it, rather than use the app or webpage. Have had no response for weeks.

Also, Smart Meter not supplying them with readings, and, to add insult to injury I haven't been paid for my exported electricity for 2 months, even though the export readings I have supplied DO show up on the meter reading history. It used to be a quick easy online job - not any more...

Have resorted to lowering my DDR payment considerably below their recommended level.
