I’ve had the same dream for over a year over and over

Wanting to ask some advice as I don’t really know where to go or ask. I keep having a nightmare, the same night mare over and over it can be at a different place or location but it’s literally a paranormal one where I’m basically being dragged out of my bed when I’m asleep (so I wake up in my dream) and I’m being dragged around and I can’t scream or shout for help as I feel like there is so much pressure on my body? (I can’t see anything I just feel the pressure of being grabbed round my ankle, like someone’s holding it, then drags me all over the place, has anyone experienced anything like it or know who you can go to?

I keep ignoring it but I’ve had the same dream for over a year over and over but twice in the past few weeks!

Any help I’d be very grateful..

Google sleep paralysis. I've encountered pressure on my legs like someone is sitting on me and feeling as though being dragged down the bed. Can be quite frightening.

Sleep paralysis. I’ve had it before but not for years luckily. Supposed to be more common for people who sleep in their backs x

Sounds very much like sleep paralysis.

It can happen when you’re feeling anxious about something.

It does literally feel like someone is sitting on your body and you can’t move or scream but you can see.

It’s when your brain wakes up before your body’s responses.

Very scary to go through but not harmful in any way.

I used to get something similar. I used to fly. It was terrifying. I tried to enjoy it and lean into the dream which helped. A sort of letting go. Also dream analysis in short is often reflecting to you how you feel...

How do you feel in the dream? Are you being dragged about? Do you feel out of control?

That is sleep paralysis. I suffered really badly for years with it. Your body is overly tired but your mind can’t switch off basically! So it wakes up before your body has chance.

You need to practice some better bed time routines and eliminate stress (where possible) and try and actually sleep more!! You’re overtired xx

I had similar as a child would wake and couldn’t move because of the pressure lying on me (I lay on my front) I would be dreaming I was being chased by a black lab (funny to most but I had been attacked by one previously) I actually felt like the dog was sat at the side of the bed watching me when I woke and I physically couldn’t move the pressure was immense it was horrible.

Email Narcolepsy UK and they will be able to tell you the nearest sleep specialist to where you live.

Even if it’s just to rule out any sleep disorders.

Good luck.
