Hiya, I’ve booked entrance tickets for Machu Picchu next May, I’m currently looking at booking a return train ticket to Cusco with incarail that also includes a guide.

Was wondering how long people would recommend being at Machu Picchu for so I can choose the train times. (Looking at getting the earlier train there just notsure about way back).

Or if anyone had any general advice for the day trip.

Many thanks.

Depends if you climb any of the peaks. We did huayna picchu and altogether spent about 4-5 hours inside leisurely.

If you want to climb Huayna Picchu you must book your ticket in advance as there’s only limited number allowed on a day.

Depends on the ticket. But with a regular ticket and no extra hikes, you’re only allotted 2 hours

Depends on if you take the bus up and down, one way or not at all. Without bus I'd leave at least 6 hours between trains.

to be honest I had enough after 1 hour BUT we did the Inca trail with camping the nights before so that might be it
