Long Amsterdam layover
Please send ideas for 6 hours layover in AMS. Could access the KLM crown lounge in the lounge 3 area departures. It’s probably a lot of work to leave the airport at this time between 12:30-6 pm.
There is train. But it’s a very busy large airport. 6 hours is really 3. If luggage is checked through I might do it. But really walking the line.
There’s a small Rijksmuseum exhibit and then shop. Kids science area right next to it. There is a meditation center and a small library on the second floor. I camp out on the second floor Starbucks sofas that face the windows and watch planes.
That airport is.. huge and often times takes 4+ hours to go through so I wouldn’t leave if I were you. There’s so much to do at the airport itself.
There’s a fun library at that airport! Could keep you busy for at least a little bit of time.
I did it once awhile ago. The train to downtown doesn't take that long and as long as you are back one or two hours before your flight you are OK.
In “normal times” I have taken the train to a nearby city, and rented a bicycle for a quick scenic ride. But these days …
All the lounges will likely be packed too. I'm through Schipol 3 times a month and they were turning around at KLM and Aspire. Hopefully things are better soon.
